USMLE step 3 consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQ) and clinical case simulation (CCS). The purpose of this test is to apply the medical knowledge and understanding of clinical science considered essential for the unsupervised practice of medicine, with emphasis on patient management in ambulatory care, continuing care, and emergency care settings. This examination will assess whether you can take independent responsibility for providing general medical care to patients.
